Way of Life

As a part of the St. Rose of Lima Parish community, we are a group of young families
committed to accompanying each other in living our Catholic faith. We seek to be a vibrant faith
community helping others to encounter Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe this
begins in our homes with our children and in our marriages as the domestic Church. We invite all
married couples and young families to our ministry events to further build the kingdom of God at home and in the world around us!

As a community, we put faith at the center of our family life, and look to create strong family
cultures, considering every aspect of living and parenting with intention, prayer, and
discernment.

Tenets:

  •  It is our intention to fully catechize and faithfully form our children in the church, seeking to give them the fullness of truth and the great Whys of what we believe. We will prioritize a solid foundation of faith to withstand the inevitable trials of their lives, as well as the vocabulary and understanding to identify their own experiences of the divine and transcendent. We will provide frequent opportunities for our children to experience the wonder, beauty, and mystery of God’s creation and his Church.

  • The Intentional creation of a Family Culture that promotes Truth, Goodness, & Beauty

    • Daily Prayer, which can include Prayer at Meals, Prayer Before Bed, and Praying the Memorare each day at 6pm.

    • Priority to the Sacraments: Attending Mass Weekly, Frequent Confession, Confession Before Christmas and Easter, Spending time in Adoration.

    • Eating Dinner as a Family as Often as Possible

    • Reviving liturgical living, embracing forgotten Catholic cultural traditions

    • Cautious Consumption of Modern Media and Limited Access for Children to the Internet until they are fully developed in mind and body, and possess the maturity and understanding to discern between good and evil content, ideally in the teen years.

    • Mindful Education of our children in healthy lifestyles, including good nutrition, healthy care of our bodies, participation in sports or other outdoor activities, as well as healthy habits of thought and strong emotional intelligence.

  • Recognize the Benefits of Rest, Retreat, and Fun in a healthy spiritual practice.

  • A Family Commitment to building Community: in Brotherhood, Sisterhood, and Friendship.

    • Frequent attendance too ministry events, as well as contribution to events and ministries when called.

    • Invite one other family over to dinner or out for a playdate each month, ideally for Lord’s Day’s celebration*

    • Participating in Meal Trains for those with new babies or suffering from loss or sickness

    • Relating to each other with Christian kindness and understanding, speaking well of each other, giving what we can, refraining from gossip or uncharitable thoughts, resolving conflict with open, humble communication and self-accountability, etc.

*The Lord’s Day is the celebration of a Sabbath meal at sunset on Saturday nights to
welcome the Day of Rest on Sunday, incorporating the Judaic heritage of Jesus Christ
into our Christian lives.

Meet Jesus. Be Jesus. Share Jesus.
